Guardian Life Spokane

The Commercial Real Estate firm Fischer Company commissioned Spokane Drone Photography to deliver aerial images of the Guardian Life Insurance campus in Spokane Washington.  This aerial project was best completed via helicopter so one was employed for the task.  This allowed us to get high enough to show the entire campus in perspective with the rest of North Spokane without the FAA imposed 400 foot height limit with drones.  Guardian has office locations all over the United States as well as approximately 8,000 employees and a network of over 3,000 financial representatives in more than 70 agencies nationwide.  Interior/Exterior still images & editing provided by RL Miller Photography

Interview with APA on Drones for Commercial Photography

I had the privilege of talking with Andrew Buchanan of the APA (American Photographic Artists) group to discuss how companies are using Drones for commercial photography.  Based in Seattle WA, Andrew is a 20 year architectural and interior photography professional and drone skeptic, but wanted to show differing points of view for the article.  Also included in the conversation is Cameron Davidson, a corporate, editorial, and advertising photographer based in Alexandria, VA who now offers drone services to his clients.  All three of us still shoot aerial photographs from a helicopter, but you can hear each of our stories on how drones have affected our respective businesses by reading the rest of the article here:

Dry Falls, Central Washington

Dry Falls is a 3.5 mile (5,600 m) long canyon in central Washington, opposite the Upper Grand Coulee from the Columbia River, and at the head of the Lower Grand Coulee. During the last ice age, catastrophic flooding channeled water and glacial ice originating from Western Montana and Idaho at an estimated 65 miles per hour over this 400-foot (120 m) rock face. It is estimated that the falls were five times the width of Niagara Falls with 10x the flow of all the current rivers in the world combined during this time. No water currently flows over the falls but there is standing water in the many pools left when the river dried up.  Check out the video below, watch in 1080p or 4k for best results.

This short video was produced using footage captured in November 2016 with a #DJI #Inspire 1 and #GoPro.
